Social media guidelines have been issued for the government officials.

The directive has been issued by the Cabinet Division.

The officials have been encouraged to use social media for achievements at work, but remaining mindful of service conduct rules.

The directive said that 42% of the global population uses the internet and 29% of them use social media sites.

Almost 80% internet users in Bangladesh are using social media sites. More than 800 government offices already use social media sites.

Rewards have been also offered for the best post, comment and for opening a page that becomes popular either in highlighting the government’s achievements or for tackling civic issues.
